Home at Last

LaceyYour support gives animals time to find their perfect home.

Lacey is a 7-year-old mixed breed dog who spent 720 days in our care before she found a new family. While our staff and volunteers grew quite fond of Lacey, nothing can replace the love, devotion and personalized attention that comes from being in a home.

Lacey was shy and anxious when meeting new people, which means she was constantly overlooked. Potential adopters didn't get to see the loving, sweet, wiggly pup that her caregivers knew her to be, so they moved on to adopt other dogs instead. During her time in our care, our trainers worked closely with Lacey to help her overcome her anxiety and learn other tricks like "sit pretty" and "roll over" hoping it would help her true, adorable personality shine through.

Lacey receiving some loveAnd that's exactly what made Alex and Helen Braddick fall in love with Lacey when they met her. That was it: After 720 days in the shelter, Lacey finally found her home.

With her loving family since February, lucky Lacey couldn't be happier or more spoiled. She loves going to Grape Street Dog Park, and if it's a hot day, she might be treated to a puppuccino or a small ice cream cone. She also gets a monthly BarkBox filled with treats and toys. She loves to show off her tricks to everyone she meets, especially rolling over and "sit pretty" with her front paws up in the air.

It is a long time to wait 720 days, but thanks to you, we could give Lacey all the time she needed to find the special kind of love she deserved. Thank you for supporting San Diego Humane Society's work and making it possible for thousands of animals each year to have access to behavior training and the time they deserve to find their happy ending.
